Swapshop was begun just a few short years ago in response to a growing wish to avoid unwanted craft and art items being thrown away. Many people have items surplus to requirements or have given up that particular craft.

Swapshop was begun just a few short years ago in response to a growing wish to avoid unwanted craft and art items being thrown away. Many people have items surplus to requirements or have given up that particular craft.
Sadly, we do get offered materials left from crafters no longer with us, but we are aware that every crafter would prefer to see someone else make something from their ‘stash’, rather than it end up in landfill. We welcome donations of any type of material that could be used for making something.
We have a permanent display of the most commonly requested items – buttons, embroidery and sewing threads, zips, wool, papercrafts, drawing and painting materials, knitting and sewing patterns, fabrics etc.
We ask customers to either supply an item in exchange for those they take or to make a small charitable donation. Some of the more expensive items will carry a suggested price.
On Wednesday mornings we put out the boxes stored in our shed so that we can offer visitors more choice – we don’t have enough space in the gallery to have it out permanently.
We always welcome new donations and you would be surprised what our talented visitors can make from some quite unusual items, so don’t be afraid to offer them. All we ask is that items are clean and reusable, especially fabrics.
